چکیده

Hairy cell leukaemia is a rare form of lymphoproliferative disease that affects 2% of leukaemia patients and was first described in 1958 as leukaemic reticuloendotheliosis. The typical presentation is pancytopenia, splenomegaly and abnormal lymphoid cells in blood with hairy cytoplasmic projections. The pathological hairy cell resembles in many ways B-lymphocyte as in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). The disease occurs predominantly in older males, median age 50 years, and male/female ratio is 4:1. It is important to differentiate it from CLL because of its different behaviour and management.

A second malignancy in a patient with hairy cell leukaemia has been documented in detail only once before (Adler, Shetty and Golomb, 1979). The association of Kaposi's sarcoma, a common tumour in parts of s...

The association of myeloproliferative disorders with hairy cell leukaemia (HCL) is very rare. This report describes a case of a patient with HCL who after remaining in remission developed Philadelphia chromosome positive chronic my...

Hairy-cell leukaemia in a renal transplant recipient.

Hairy-cell leukaemia is a rather uncommon chronic malignant lymphoproliferative disorder accounting for about 2% of all adult leukaemia cases [1]. This clonal B-cell proliferation [2] is characterized by a cellular infiltration of both bone marrow and spleen by large differentiated B cells, often exhibiting hair-like protrusions (hairy cells). We report here the first case of hairy-cell leukaem...
